He's Not A Fan Of Peas

So, Britton has been eating rice cereal for a few weeks now, and just loving it. I decided to try something new last night - peas. First bite - funny face. Second bite - funnier face. Third bite - slight gagging. Fourth bite - full on gagging and choking. Guess we'll wait a few days and try peaches.

Sydni is trying out for "The Music Man" this afternoon at the junior high. Good luck, Syd!!!

Why Won't He Sleep?

My sweet little boy, who was sleeping through the night at four months old, is now back to waking up to eat in the middle of the night. I thought maybe he was going through a growth spurt, but it's been going on for two weeks now. We've even started rice cereal, but that doesn't seem to be making any difference. It's a good thing he's so dang cute. When people come to the house, I'll just distract them with him so that they don't notice how messy things are because I'm too tired to clean.

He has learned some new "tricks." He is very good at rasberries, and loves to give kisses- the big, opened-mouthed slobbery ones. I sure love him!

Reflections Awards

We had the PTA Council Awards Open House on Tuesday night, and both Maddy and Kenzie had entries that had moved on to be judged. Kenzie's photograph of Britton, and Maddy's story both received Honorable Mention awards and Maddy's photograph won for her age group. It will now move on to compete at the Region Level. Pretty exciting! She was most excited to receive a $10 gift card to Michael's as her prize. A girl after my own heart!

Breaking The Habit

I didn't write about it, but our holiday season was fabulous - surrounded by family. It doesn't get any better than that.
One of my New Year's Resolutions was to get myself off of Diet Coke. I was planning on taking it slowly, but when Don quit Coke a couple of years ago he did it cold turkey and suggested I try the same. Well, I spent two days feeling lousy, but I've now been 11 days without Diet Coke. I was even sick one day and wanted one so badly, but I resisted. I did it!!! Of course, Don also said to "reward" yourself with a small one every once in awhile, so I will be enjoying a small one today - but I'm not ever going back to the way I was before.

A Conversation At The Dinner Table

Dad: Marshmallows are evil!
Emma: No they aren't.
Dad: Yes they are....at the Second Coming, they are all going to burst into flames.
Kenzie: Yum - SMORES!!!
