Birthday Time

Happy Birthday to Emma and Maddy (a little late)!
When they joined our family 11 and 9 years ago, we wondered how we would survive with so many little kids. Now we know we wouldn't have it any other way. We are so grateful for the joy they bring to our home each and every day!
Poor Maddy was so sick on her birthday, but she tried to smile and enjoy it.
Emma really wanted a pet of her own, but since she's allergic to everything, this digital puppy will have to do. Her cousin, Geta, doesn't look too impressed, eh?Britton thoroughly enjoyed Maddy's "Bucket-of-Mud" birthday cake!

Activity Ideas

I need help! I have been called as Ward Activities Chairman, and the Bishop has asked for monthly ward activities. So, I am looking for lots of ideas. Please leave me a comment with some of your favorite activities. They can be for the whole family, just adults, or even service projects.

Bathtime Anyone?

Emma wasn't feeling well last night, so she took a bath. Britton couldn't understand why someone else was in his tub, so he climbed in and joined her.

He's Growing Up

Guess who's in a toddler bed? I can't believe he's big enough for his new bed. Luckily, he doesn't seem to realize yet that he can climb out of it. Once we put him in he stays in until we go get him out.
(A big thanks to Kristol who found this for us at a yard sale for $30.)

Junior High...Here She Comes

Yesterday was the final day of elementary school for Kenzie. They held a very nice 6th Grade Advancement Program where she won a ton of awards and was chosen as one of the speakers by her classmates. She is so excited to be headed to Junior High. I'm excited for her, too, but I did cry a little that my Kenz is growing up. We are so proud of the young woman she is becoming. This is her wonderful teacher, Mrs. Jackman and our great principal, Miss Winger. We are blessed to have great schools for our girls.

Award Winning Gal

Last Wednesday night was the Junior High's Awards Night. We were invited and told that Syd would receive an award. She got one for Reflections, which she already knew about. But she also received an award for her IOWA test results. These are National Standardized Tests taken in the 3rd, 5th, and 8th grades. Sydni was above the 90th percentile in Math, Reading, Science, Social Studies, Total Core, and Total Composite Score. That's across the whole country - what a smartie!

Memorial Day

Wow - it has been a very busy few weeks. Maybe that's why I enjoyed Memorial Day so much - It was a laid back day that I got to spend with my family. We needed that!
We started the day with a Stake Breakfast and then headed out to visit some grave sites. Don's grandparents are all buried on the east side of the valley, so we headed over there to take some flowers and clean up the headstones. The weather was beautiful and Don got to share some stories of Grandma Margaret, Grandpa Vernon, Grandma Cherry, and Grandpa Don.Last year we went to the zoo, so we thought we'd make it a tradition. Once we drove up and saw more people there then I've ever seen before we changed plans and headed home for a relaxing afternoon. That evening we had our good friends, the Webbs and Powells, over for a bbq. The weather was perfect, the food was great, the kids all got along, and we had a great time. It was hard to return to "real life" on Tuesday.
